Indian Government calls Google for a meeting to resolve dispute with some Indian Apps.


Google Play Store: Yesterday, Google took strict action against some Indian app developers and removed them from Android Play Store. Actually, Google had said that ten apps from India do not follow the billing policy of Play Store, and hence they have been removed from Google Play Store. Now the Government of India has also intervened in this matter. The government has called Google for a meeting to find a solution to this problem.

Government adopted a tough stance

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the government strongly opposes delisting of apps and will not allow this to happen. PTI quoted Vaishnav in its report as saying, “The government has taken a tough stance on the removal of some apps by Google from the Play Store. We will not allow the apps to be delisted.”

After issuing a blog post, Google removed popular apps of 10 Indian companies from the Play Store from March 1, 2024. These apps include the names of many popular apps of India including matrimony apps. Google had removed Kuku FM, Bharat Matrimony, Shaadi.com, Naukri.com, 99 acres, Truly Madly, Quack Quack, Stage, ALTT (Alt Balaji) from the Play Store.

Many apps have returned

However, after the reaction of the Indian government, some apps are visible again on the Play Store. When we checked all these apps that were removed from Google Play Store till the time of writing this news, we found that the apps of Shaadi.com, Naukri.Com and 99acers have been listed again on the Play Store, while all the other apps are still listed. Not available on Google Play Store till now.

Now it remains to be seen whether Google lists the remaining apps back on the Play Store before the meeting with the Government of India. Let us tell you that the government has fixed a meeting with Google on coming Monday. Now it remains to be seen what is the solution to this ongoing dispute between Google and Indian apps.
